WHY we scheduled for a weeknight:

–This is a PRIVATE EVENT, JUST FOR US–no other skaters will be there–and Skateland private parties are available only on weekdays. Additionally, we scheduled on Halloween so that our kids can have a halal and enjoyable alternative for treating. Interestingly, the Skateland representative mentioned to me, even before I mentioned it, that she knows that as Muslims, we don’t celebrate Halloween, and thus it might be a good idea to choose this date. It’s amazing that even non-Muslims are beginning to get an idea of what we, as Muslims, prefer for our kids.

Why have a PRIVATE PARTY?

— NO MUSIC –We’re going to have our own playlist of vocals-only NASHEEDS instead, inShaAllah!

— Skateland has promised ALL FEMALE STAFF

— HALAL PIZZA (Skateland’s CHEESE pizza is halal; we checked out the cheese, sauce and bread)

WHY we hope your daughters (and any female friends they’d like to bring) will attend this event:

— This is not just a fun event, but also an EDUCATIONAL one.

— Educational how? An event like this teaches our girls to:

  1. Choose halal alternatives to things like Halloween

  2. And how to take the resources available to us and modify them to make things HALAL. It allows our kids to see possibilities where they didn’t before, and to start identifying other possibilities on their own. When we told the girls of Group B about this event and that we would have nasheeds instead of music, and that the staff would be all female, they were surprised and excited. They kept asking us how that was possible. We want our girls to see an example of what can be done, bi’idhnillah.

–An event like this teaches our girls that they CAN HAVE FUN while keeping things halal.

–We’ve been really lucky to have been able to arrange these events, and we don’t know when an event like this will be repeated, so we hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity.

**PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a drop-off event. So please plan for a responsible adult to be there to supervise (only women–no dads please).

We sincerely hope you’ll bring your daughters to this very special event that we’ve arranged just for them, and we look forward to seeing you and your beautiful daughters on Thursday, October 31st :)
